Deb’s Shear Perfection Day Spa
12/2009 -Not Just for Frills New Lebanon – Especially during this frantic season, people may be experiencing higher than normal stress levels, affecting their relationships, decision making, job performance, even their overall health. This is when folks more than ever need a place to feel better, and Deb’s Shear Perfection at 560 Route 20 in New Lebanon is one of those places. If you aren’t used to salons and are in any way nervous about visiting, don’t be – this is a very friendly, down-to-earth, wonderful bunch!
Deb McLaughlin has been doing hair for over twenty years and is a lifelong new Lebanon area resident, having her own salon for most of that time, at the same Route 20 location for about the last ten years. The other two hair stylists are her daughter, Heather Darcy, and Pam Ames, who is a long time friend. When Pam outgrew her One Better Hair Design location down the road in 2002, she joined forces with Deb. Deb and her husband John are very active members of the community, and you can see all over the shop evidence of involvement in and support for a variety of causes, everything from safety tips for seniors about preventing falls in the icy season, to trinkets for sale by a local Home Care Visiting Nurse to assist her clients with medical costs, to information on Christmas card sales for the benefit of Immaculate Conception Church in New Lebanon. They are open from 9:30 to 6, Tuesday through Friday, and from 9-2 on Saturdays. They can be reached at (518) 794-9155.
The biggest staffing news currently is the addition of two licensed Massage Therapists, Laura Teague and Kari Murad. Both are graduates of the Center for Natural Wellness School of Massage Therapy. They offer Swedish, Hot Stone, Aromatherapy and Therapeutic Massage in half hour to 90 minute sessions, and will be doing Chair Massages. Kari is available on weekends by appointment. Laura is available for walk-ins on Tuesday from 11:30 and on Wednesdays and Thursdays by appointment. When asked about her works, Austerlitz resident Laura Teague says, “It is endlessly satisfying when someone comes in stressed or in pain and leaves relieved, and she shares that orientation with fellow therapist Kari as well as the entire staff there.
They will be having a HOLDAY OPEN HOUSE on Saturday, December 12, from 11-3, so you can meet Deb McLaughlin and her staff, see their salon and soothing, newly done massage therapy room, have some refreshments, enter to win a door prize, get some samples and see the wonderful special and gift ideas they have. Think of all they offer as not just pampering yourself or a loved one with a gift certificate, but giving the gift of relaxation and better overall health. Deb says, “If someone comes in having a bad day, and we can send them out looking and feeling better about themselves and the world in general, that’s good.” And that seems to be the overall goal of Deb’s Shear Perfection — to make things better, one person at a time.
